Cynthia Lockrey is a storyteller and motivator. She is passionate about helping people find their voice so they can share their knowledge, stories and BE HEARD!
She began her patient advocacy work as a pregnant mom on bed rest. She soon found that her 20+ years of public relations experience helped her make the human connection and get clear on the story she was relaying to healthcare professionals.
As a university instructor, corporate trainer and conference speaker, Cynthia is experienced at breaking down patient advocacy skills and techniques into bite size and easy to understand pieces.
Over the years she has volunteered as a patient advocate in both Ontario and British Columbia.
Cynthia is also the author of two patient advocacy books – Bed Rest Mom, Surviving Pregnancy-Related Bed Rest with Your Sanity and Dignity Intact and Your Child’s Voice – A Caregiver’s Guide to Advocating for Kids with Special Needs, Disabilities, or Others Who May Fall through the Cracks.
She speaks about the importance of and helping patients have their voices heard in the healthcare system which reduces friction, frustration and misunderstanding on both sides.
